Here are some of the innovative ways our clients
are maximizing their clip programs.

1. One College has found an interesting way to pay for its clip program while strengthening alumni ties. The alumni section of their clippings is usually full of happy news - weddings, engagements, feature stories, job promotions, awards and more. Several years ago they started a congratulatory letter-writing campaign, which goes out over the president's signature, along with a copy of the clipping. Then they tracked the year to year increase in alumni contributions for everyone who received personal letters. Two guesses as to what they
discovered!
2. With over four hundred clips per delivery and locations spread throughout the state, getting the right clippings to the right individual was turning into a full time job at one communications office. This client switched to disk delivery and a custom index. Now they e-mail the index to all administrators, and post the entire clip package in read-only form to their intranet. Administrators are now free to decide what they wish to see, and access it
themselves.
3. After being quoted over $18,000 a year for clip archival software, one client decided to create their own database, using off-the-shelf FilePro software. Each clip is imported in text-format as a separate record, and tagged as to date, source, and topic. Viola! Instant searchable database for a one-time cost of under $500.
