Privacy Policy
MVP policy · Updated July 10, 2026
ClipResearch is a manually triggered research capture tool. This policy describes the current self-hosted beta product.
Information stored
- Your email address, password hash, login sessions, and API token hashes.
- Projects and content you explicitly save, including URLs, page text, Markdown, excerpts, tags, summaries, and YouTube metadata.
- Feedback you explicitly submit, including its category, message, product surface, and limited interface state.
- Basic operational logs needed to diagnose errors and protect the service.
How collection works
The extension does not automatically collect browsing history, cookies, or pages visited. Page content is sent only after you choose a capture, save, summary, or explicit selection action. Feedback is sent only when you submit the feedback form; the extension does not attach the current URL, page title, selected text, captured Markdown, or raw page content.
How information is used
Saved content is used to provide your private research archive, search, summaries, and exports. When you request an AI summary, the selected content is sent to the configured language-model provider.
Access and sharing
Projects and captures are isolated by account. ClipResearch does not sell personal information or use captured content for advertising. Service providers may process data only when needed to host the product or fulfill an AI request.
Security and retention
Passwords and personal API tokens are stored as one-way hashes. Sessions use HTTP-only cookies. Data remains until it is deleted through the product or removed by the service operator. Do not capture confidential material during the beta unless you are authorized to upload it.
Your choices
You can delete individual captures and projects, revoke extension tokens, and export your data from the Dashboard. Account-level export and deletion requests are handled through the beta feedback channel while self-service controls are being developed.
Changes
This policy may change as the beta adds analytics, payments, or new processors. Material changes will be reflected on this page before those features are enabled.
